Can I host a clickbooq site on my own servers?
clickbooq is a web-based, hosted service simply due to the fact that our website sites aren't "portable" (meaning they can be moved from server to server). Here's why:
clickbooq websites are database-driven sites. You're probably used to a website that resides in a directory with an index.html page along with other accompanying .html files and images. This sort of structure represents your basic everyday website.
Our system, and some of the other systems you may have seen just can't work this way. It's a technological nightmare from a management point of view. Consider updates for example. If we were to implement a new bug fix or a new feature update, we would have to retroactively go into each website's directory and apply the fix and then test each one to make sure it still works. Repeat this process a few hundred times and you can start to see why this isn't very efficient and also error-prone.
Database-driven systems like ours use databases and shared assets instead. Believe it or not, every one of our sites uses a single base Flash file which serves as the basis for all of the sites you see. This is really the only way to do it these days. Now, if we have a bug fix or new feature update, we can test it internally with a copy of the same file everyone else is using, then "roll" it out to our clients instantly and everyone immediately benefits. There is no upgrade process or waiting list to be able to enjoy the new updates. This process also ensures that the updates are efficient and quick and fully tested before implementation.
Do I get my own personal domain name and email address? Email accounts share a single 250MB repository, meaning any single account can hold up to 250MBs of email, or share the repository amongst all of your accounts. The flexibility of this "rolling" quota system means that you'll always have plenty of room for your important emails. Standard webmail access is also included.
Yes, you will have your own unique web address with a domain name of your choosing. Your clickbooq account also comes with up to ten email accounts, based on your personalized domain name.
I already own a domain name. Can I use it with clickbooq?
Yes, you can use any domain name you wish, either registered through our integrated domain registrar or any other accredited domain registrar you choose.
Can I have a blog with my domain?
Yes, your clickbooq hosting account now includes blog hosting with every subscription. We’ve integrated WordPress, the world’s most popular and customizable open source blogging platform which prides itself with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. How do I transfer my existing domain to be used with clickbooq?
Once you have signed up with clickbooq, your Welcome email will contain the necessary information to change your domain nameservers to ours. This process is straightforward, but if you need help, we can do it for you at no extra cost.
I already have an existing website that I want to use with clickbooq. How should I proceed?
If you already have an existing website, you have the option of building your new clickbooq website using a temporary account first. Once your new site is ready to launch, we can work with you to make the final switch from your old site so that there is no downtime or any loss of email.
Can I change my domain name for use with clickbooq after I've signed up?
Yes, but changing your domain at a later time will incur a $99 post-setup charge. This is because the domain change requires your existing account to be converted in our databases as well as additonal setup on our server as if it were a new account entirely.
How long does it take before my website can be visited?
Due to the time it takes for any new website domain to begin responding to nameserver changes, your website may not be publicly viewable for between 24-48 hours after you sign up. Unfortunately, this delay is inherent to all websites (not just clickbooq websites) and is not under our control.
However, within 1 business day of signing up for clickbooq, you can begin uploading your images and building your site by accessing the Toolbox application with the login credentials you provided during signup.
How many photos can I store on my account?
With clickbooq's standard hosting plan, you can store up to 2,000 images in your online image library.
